Apprenticeships

Swatpro e-Learning PlatformSwatpro offers a wide range of apprenticeships covering many sectors, from construction to catering, and engineering to early years education, through to business, management and leadership. We offer these through our own in-house provision, or through one of our partner organisations, with whom we work very closely.

We are proud to be a Department for Education trusted provider too.

If you are an employer...

...you may be wondering how you can benefit from employing an apprentice. If you've never had an apprentice before, then you must register on to the Government's Apprenticeship ServiceYou’ll need a GOV.UK One Login to set up or access an account, although you can create one in the service using a work email address.

How you use the Apprenticeship Service will depend on whether you are a levy payer, or not. If your pay bill is less than £3m per annum, then you will be classed as a non-levy payer. As a non-levy payer, you will be required to pay 5% of the cost of the apprenticeship, that's just £250 for a £5,000 business administration apprenticeship, for example.

Employers must allow the apprentice at least six hours a week to complete their apprenticeship training, throughout the duration of their programme. They must also have a contract of employment with the apprentice and pay at least the apprenticeship minimum wage.

We can help advertise your apprentice vacancy using the Apprenticeship Service and guide you through using the Service. Call us on 01823 806377 to find out more. We successfully support levy, and non-levy, employers.

If you are an individual...

...you may be wondering how to get an apprenticeship. It's certainly a great opportunity to learn new skills, knowledge and behaviours required in the workplace... and you'll be earning whilst you are learning. There are almost 700 apprenticeships to choose from, with another 50 or so in development, and they range from Level 2 (GCSE) to Level 7 (Masters Degree).

If you need to find an apprenticeship, you'll need to find an employer that is offering what you're looking for... try using the Government's Browse Apprenticeships website to see what is available in your area. Bear in mind that not all apprenticeship vacancies are visible through this site and it may well be worth approaching an employer directly to see what they could offer.

Your apprenticeship will last for at least 12 months, but can be up to four years for a highly skilled engineering machinist. At the end of your apprenticeship, you will have to complete an independent End Point Assessment. Note that if you if do not hold Level 2 qualifications in maths and English, you will have to study these subjects as part of your apprenticeship - don't let this put you off(!), we have extensive experience in supporting our learners through this and our Head of Training is also a National Numeracy Champion.
